This is one of the oldest Tracing Wires songs that we still play. I think I wrote it near the end of 2014. Instrumentally, I had been listening to a lot of Queens of the Stone Age lately. However lyrically, it's very much inspired by the NOFX song "Vanilla Sex", which is a song about how the government and busybodies in general want to police how people are fucking in their own bedroom. This song isn't just about that, though, it's obviously a pro-gay marriage song. Granted, I wrote this before the nationwide legalization of gay marriage in that landmark Supreme Court decision. For a minute, after that decision, I thought this song was instantly obsolete. Though now that we have those shitheads Trump and Pence in office, it looks like there's still work to do.

My only regret with these lyrics is the "please keep that shit to yourself" part which I fear sounds like I am either slut-shaming people at best or at worst I might sound like I'm one of those straight guys who is homophobic of seeing any gay people actually doing gay things in front of me. I assure you that isn't/wasn't the intention. I wrote it because it's none of my business who people fuck and how they fuck, and because I'm not big on seeing others' public displays of affection, but fuck that, do what you want in front of me, I'll be fine. -Tim
