about

This track is another that Lizzy wrote most of the music to, though the band has collaborated in their own ways during the writing process. However in this particular recording, it is just Lizzy and Tim. We had an opportunity to toss together an acoustic/piano track with Lizzy's friend Will. While this is basically being released with the album, the idea is that it is a bonus track. Calling it a bonus track explains why it isn't really part of the same vibe/style as the rest of the EP. At the moment this particular iteration of the song hasn't been performed live--the live version we perform of "Fall Asleep" is a full band with electric guitars and no piano. I hope that we are able to record a proper full band version of this song someday soon.

The lyrics are about feeling overwhelmed/exasperated. It's basically about depression. It's also slightly lyrically inspired by a Patton Oswalt bit called "The Vestibule of Dreams" off of his album "Finest Hour". Also I had to toss in the anti-suicide message at the end because I don't want to be negative all the time, right? -Tim

lyrics

What kind of future will there be?
Is it worth paying the cost?
All this technology
Doesn't make up for what we lost
Endless war, endless fight
A police state won't make us free
So just lay down and sigh
And try to fall asleep

When you have nothing left
And you don't know what to say
When you have nothing left
And you don't know what to say
So just lay down and sigh
And try to fall asleep
When you have nothing left
And you don't know what to say

Exasperation washes over
Such a wonderful flu
Easy to feel overwhelmed
When there's so much work to do
And the thought of facing life
Makes you want to turn and flee
So just lay down and sigh
And try to fall asleep

When you have nothing left
And you don't know what to say
When you have nothing left
And you don't know what to say
So just lay down and sigh
And try to fall asleep
When you have nothing left
And you don't know what to say

When you have nothing left
And you don't know what to say
When you have nothing left
And you don't know what to say
So just lay down and sigh
And try to fall asleep
When you have nothing left
And you don't know what to say

When you have nothing left
Try to fall asleep
When you have nothing left
Try to fall asleep
It's not worth giving up
So please don't throw it away
When you have nothing left
And you don't know what to say
